Mag's First Day of First Grade

Yesterday we got Brenn off to college...today it was Maggie's turn..to go to first grade. She had a wonderful day. The best part of the day was lunch. Her favorite subject is P.E. and recess is too hot. So there you have it. She is my little angel. On a somber note...I don't know what it is with our return to school and the demise of our pets. Last year Milo bit Mark on the first day of school. Today, our beloved cat almost died. Saturday he was fine. Today he is knocking on death's door. After the outpouring of considerable cash and the day at the vet, we were told that he is "not out of the woods yet and has to return tomorrow for more tests." Translation: The vet gets richer, I get poorer!!!! That cat better make it!!!! Is it too late for me to go into vetrinary medicine.

Brennan Goes to College

Forgive the quality of the pictures. I tried to take as many pictures as possible without embarrassing Brennan. Since the van is the largest vehicle we own, it necessitated that it be driven to college...loaded with Brennan's college paraphernalia. He was mortified at having to make his grand entrance to college inside the 11 year old Ford Windstar, with all its dents, dings, and bumper stickers. All kidding aside, I am extremely proud of him. He is an awesome young man, and I have little to no worries that he will do something rash or irresponsible. He has a good head on his shoulders. Note from the pictures that he took his guitar with him. If we could just get the drums moved out of the house, it would be a fairly calm and peaceful house. I will miss Brenn though, not the jam sessions, but I will miss him. Check out my shirt...I am officially a West Georgia Mom!!!

6 Days and Counting

Brennan leaves for college in 6 days. Despite the joy I feel for him, I am surprisingly sad that he is leaving. With him, I feel like it is truly the first flight from the proverbial nest. I don't expect him to come back home to live as a child, I expect that he will be fairly emancipated and on his way to becoming the adult God created him to be. Although all of parenting is in preparation for this, it doesn't make it less painful.....merely bittersweet.

Last Hoorah!!!!!!!!

Our last day in PA is drawing to a close. Momentarily, I will pack my computer into its carry case loading it into the Chevy Tahoe for the 12 hour and 24 minute trip back to Atlanta. So, today we spent the entire day lounging around the pool surrounded by Carolyn's family. The children played, swam, made bracelets, laughed and argued, and swam with the family Portuguese Waiter dog, who is capable of walking on water. I, on the other hand, almost read all of Twilight in one sitting. I am going to try to finish it before heading out in the morning. As a matter of fact, in the course of this vacation, I have read 4 whole books. What a treat that has been. Not to mention spending time with my little blessing, Mag. Tomorrow life, as I know it, will be back to normal....
