Family Dinner

Food, family, and fun with the Kemp clan. This is the way summer is meant to be...children running in the yard, playing hide and seek, hula hooping, kicking a soccer ball and catching lightening bugs. It doesn't get any better than that.

Lehigh Valley Zoo

Today we adventured to the Lehigh Valley Zoo instead of the Philadelphia Zoo. This was probably a good thing since Mag was exhausted and was less than disinterested in seeing the animals or enjoying the GREAT OUTDOORS....not to mention the fact that it was hot - as evidenced by the sweaty picture of Grace Ingram. At least the animals seemed happy, healthy, and non-plussed by the heat.

THE BOARDWALK

Under The Boardwalk

When the sun beats down
And burns the tar up on the roof
And your shoes get so hot
You wish your tired feet were fireproof

Under the boardwalk
Down by the sea
On a blanket with my baby
Is where I’ll be

From the park you’ll hear
The happy sound of a carousel
You can almost taste the hot dogs
And french fries they sell

Under the boardwalk
Down by the sea, yeah
On a blanket with my baby
Is where I’ll be

10 Lessons Learned while Crabbing

1. Ocean City New Jersey is really, really, really humid.
2. All seagulls are named George or Georgina.
3. Male crabs have a skinny triangle on their stomachs and females have a fat one (that figures).
4. Carolyn LOVES the ocean.
5. Carolyn could live on a boat and be content.
6. Carolyn never says "die" while crabbing unless a child is running a 104 degree fever, then she will call it a day.
7. It is illegal to feed the sea gulls in Ocean City (OOPS).
8. Carolyn's dad is funny.
9. My hair looks the worst it ever has in Ocean City thanks to the humidity.
10. Carolyn is an awesome friend, even when Mag is picking on GI under the radar.

Ocean City New Jersey

Next stop: Ocean City New Jersey where we swam, ate Mac and Manco Pizza (YUMMY), rode rides and rented a surrey on the boardwalk, and went crabbing.

Attraction Number 2: A Trip to the Cabin

After the Crayola museum, we packed it in again, this time with Carolyn's twin sister, Diana and her Portuguese Water Dog named Colby, to travel to "the caabin." Carolyn has 4 brothers and sisters, all of whom have children. To say that there were a lot of people present would an understatement. I think we had 11 children, ranging in age from 8 to 2, all staying there. We canoed, paddle boated, swam, roasted marshmallow, also known as "marshing," and ate a lot of food. Carolyn's dad had a bday while there, and in celebration we had butter cake. I can't say that I would give it two thumbs up, but it was definitely interesting. I think it might be an acquired taste.
