End of Year Picnic

Tonight we celebrated the end of the school year with our school-age playgroup friends. I found a quote that says, "The past holds the beginning, The future holds the end, but somewhere in between, we became the closest friends." That sums up what Maggie has with her playgroup friends. They all started out engaged in parallel play as toddlers and have moved their friendship into this incredible sisterhood.

Student-led Service at Creekside Church

Today was the day that the church recognizes the graduating seniors, and, in doing so, the youth lead the entire service. It truly was an amazing service. I am really proud of the boys...but I was also reminded that in one year, we will be sitting in the service with graduating seniors. The boys lead the youth praise and worship band. This is the first one the youth group has ever had. We are proud that they have worked so hard to make this dream come true. And we are thankful for the youth leader who has worked with them through the rough patches and taught them with grace. Due to the funky lighting, it was hard to get good pictures, but this is what we got.

BALLET RECITAL 2008

The time is finally here....Mag and her little classmates have practiced long and hard for their end-of-the-year ballet recital. Since her ballet class is through Perimeter Church's Academy of the Arts, all the dances are done to Christian music. It results in a performance that is God-exalting, inspiring, and very moving. Someone suggested that through their dance, we can almost catch a glimpse of the grace of God. I would tend to agree with that. The finale begins with two girls carrying another girl in the splits across the stage. The image is supposed to be that of Jesus. Following them is a procession of dancer who jubilantly dance behind them across the stage. I cried the first time I saw it. I am very proud of Mag, too. Normally, she doesn't like to have all the attention focused on her, but she said that dancing on the stage makes her feel like a famous ballerina....You go GIRL. Dream Big!!!!!
