Lunch at the American Girl Bistro

Mag's dear friend, Mac, is turning 5 this Saturday, but her family will be on a family vacation in Mexico, so the girls had a little early bday celebration. Mac's two friends, Mag and Meghan, along with the moms, Mac's little sister, and her grandma, Gigi, all met at American Girl to help Mac celebrate. It was an enchanted lunch, and each of the girls brought the American girl dolls to join them for lunch. Even the dolls had their own little chairs and menus. As if the lunch, presents, and cake weren't enough excitement, Gigi offered to take each of the girls to the beauty salon for their dolls to get their hair done. She didn't have to ask more than once, she had three ready takers. So off they went to the beauty salon. Julie, Maggie's doll, was in need of the salon and looked lovely once her hair was freshly coiffed. We couldn't have asked for a nicer afternoon.

GUNG HAY FAT CHOY

Happy New Year....February 7th marked the beginning of the Year of the Rat, the first year in the Chinese Zodiac. Naturally, this called for celebration with our playgroup friends. So on Thursday, we got together with over 60 friends for long noodles and other traditional Chinese dishes. The girls donned their QI PAOS (traditional Chinese dresses), and the boys wore their Chinese pajamas. The celebration was marked by crafts, story time, red envelopes, and ended with our annual dragon parade and fireworks. The fireworks are actually accomplished by rolling out big rolls of bubble wrap for the girls to then jump on. The popping noise really sounds like fireworks going off. Our friends, the Duncans, came down for the big event. And we had lots of fun getting to see our friends. Then we did it all over again Friday night with a little over 40 friends from our school-age playgroup. We are blessed to have so many adoptive families to share these experiences with....and for these families to truly be genuine friends. We are blessed.
