Baby Reunion Number 4

Mag, Mark and I just returned from our fourth annual baby reunion. This is when we get together with 5 of the 12 families we traveled to China with to celebrate the lives of our daughters and the blessing of friendship. Once again, it was absolutely wonderful to be together. It was a little different year because none of our teenagers were there, except for the ones who live at the host home. It was markedly different without them and not as lively. One of the families also wasn't able to make it this year, and they were missed. Each year we hold a boccie ball tournament, and it certainly wasn't the same without the big kids...I came in third place, which should give some indication of the level of competition. I was knocked out by the winner, none other than my husband. As you can see from the pictures, we were able to spend a nice amount of time enjoying the Richardson's pool and the area parks where the girls had foot races, and Mark challenged Jenna to a foot race...Guess who won.

Since we got together over the 4th of July, we were able to attend the annual parade and fireworks. Even though Jill thinks that Yorkville has gotten out of control from a population standpoint, I think it still has a small-town feel. It felt like being home. It is always such a treat to be up there. They have a farm house and barns behind their house, so even though they are in the middle of a subdivision, it has that rural pastoral feel.

The girls continue to be amazing. They just continue to grow and blossom. Each year, more of their personalities emerge so we can see the unique little angel that God created them to be. We are blessed by the the lives of these little girls and the friendships that God wove together as a result of trip to China in November 2003. es
